1st Period
The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers traded goals in the first period of Game 1 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday night in Sunrise, Florida.
Connor McDavid opened the scoring for the Oilers just 2:12 into the game, but Carter Verhaeghe answered back for the Panthers just over three minutes later.

Sam Bennett gave the Panthers a 4-2 lead with a goal at 12:37 of the second period, and Jonathan Huberdeau made it 5-2 with a goal at 16:06.
The Oilers got one goal back before the end of the second period when Zach Hyman scored at 18:47, but the Panthers took a 5-3 lead into the third period.
3rd Period
The Oilers pulled goalie Mike Smith in the final minutes of the third period in an attempt to tie the game, but the Panthers held on to win 5-3.
Bobrovsky made 38 saves for the Panthers, while Smith made 27 saves for the Oilers.

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Final with their win in Game 1. Game 2 will be played in Sunrise on Friday night.
